Nice food shot, Jim. The only thing that draws my eye is that little hair on bottom right. Is the plate speckled?

From todays local Country Club shoot.

Excellent detail. Was this focus stacked by chance?

I would suggest cleaning up the hair and other spots as well.

Ug, another hair, thanks. I'll remove it.

All of their plates are scratched up from dishwashing. They shrugged and said "oh well" so... oh well. The pics will be small on their website and social media.

Not focus stacked. Just f8

I see you have removed that hair already. I'm surprised that they didn't have better plates but if the image is small, the dish washer scratches may no be visible :)

What is kind of funny is I sent a "pre-shoot suggestions" sheet. Chef was insulted marketing gave him the sheet, because "he has cooked for two presidents and Michael Jackson" he knows what he is doing. So I got crooked sandwiches and burgers, over sauced food with wilted lettuce on scratched up plates. Same thing I get at local restaurants with Chefs that did not cook for two presidents :)

Maybe they HAD cooked for the same Presidents. I hear Reagan was a big fan of wilted lettuce and crooked sandwiches.

Nice shot! I've had some dishes come out to me with chips in the plate. I suppose they figure it is "easy" to clone them out but not always when it comes to chips on the edge. Yup to the scratches and utensil marks on them. -?

If I was a mean person ;) I would say Chef cooked for two presidents because he worked at a Washington DC McDonalds, but I would not say that.

I am not sure exactly what is in those buns, I was told they were inspired by Korean steam buns and that they were shrimp, beef and pork. I think the yellow one is the shrimp, but with all that sauce who knows.

My only issue with the shoot is it was a fake brown wood table with no table cloth. Every restaurant I have shot so far (been shooting food for 4 months) has had the same table, this does not help me build diversity in my port.

Who knows maybe Chef made this chicken sandwich for Michale Jackson.

Nice! thats awesome, you get to practice and he gets good pics.

Now they asked me to take pictures on a regular basis (every two weeks or so) and I am not really sure how to proceed... On the one hand I like the owner and doing this every now and then just for the fun was nice. But as soon as regularity enters the equation I feel like I should charge at least something, because I will be giving up free time on a regular basis. Is there any reference on when to start charging for work and if how much? I am not depending on this and this will never be my main career, so I am unsure about the rates that other guides on the internet propose.

Constructive criticism and editing always welcome.
