Europe is a geographical term designating an area which includes the British Isles. The EU is a union of states bound by contracts and laws on which they agreed unanimously.

So your foot will be placed firmly on European ground while in the UK (discounting overseas territories).
.

.

I’d completely forgotten about our 14 overseas territories, thanks for the reminder:lol:

Ray I think this is the best of them. Nice light and interesting composition, sort of framed by the various towers. Good photo!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Thanks Pippan.:-) The towers carry high voltage power cables across the Thames and the bridge visible to the left of the ship is the Thames River Crossing - or the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge - carrying the London Orbital Motorway traffic traffic across the river. Usually referred to as the London Orbital Car Park.

I've posted it on the Marinetraffic site - I want to see if they bounce it back.-?

I like your photos Ray, but I would argue that these huge carriers are ships ;-)a

This is most certainly a boat. The guy tied up to the mooring and I watched with interest as there was no dinghy to get ashore. Yup, he went for a swim

A boat is a ship is a boat to my mind and I got told by my mate, retired Admiral once that his 'boats' were SHIPS!
If you've never encountered an admiral then you probably don't know how that would come across :p

Ray, you need to lift your game by the sounds of it :p

yes, generally i would say that a Ship has Boats on board but, the freighters that ply the Great Lakes (the ones that are captive to the lakes, i.e. Salties not included) are MOST ASSUREDLY referred to as boats...

i know were not talking about GL Freighters but if someone wants to call them boats, im not going to argue the point...

Annie, Thanks for the compliment. Now Annie! You have now tossed your caber into a right old hornets nest. I think there is a lack of clear definition on this one.-? Maybe there are a few threads running that could be fused together, or a new one started specifically for Freighters and tankers. Problem is when looking for a thread there are so many of them you often cannot find a suitable one and sometimes stumble across an interesting new one.

Interesting points Richard. Would your ancestors have arrived in OZ by Ship or Boat?:-)

Ray, you need to lift your game by the sounds of it :p

Obviously you are correct Dave, but I suppose you could have a big boat designed to carry small ships. Let’s get our drawing boards out, or our CAD packages:-)

You can put a boat on a ship but you cannot put a ship on a boat. ;-)a

Great series of shots Ray, I did not realise the docks where still that busy on the Thames.

Sorry Annie. Don’t take me too seriously, your comment put me into thinking mode - or vice versa.
