This guy deserves his own post. I managed another shot of this guy. Looks like he is surviving the winter just fine. I see him at the feeders from time to time. I first seen him in early January. Amazing how they adapt and overcome.

Wow - that's a bad case of crossed-bill syndrome. As you say, it's amazing how they manage to survive. I have a carrion crow in my neighbourhood with crossed-bill syndrome...

IMAGE: https://www.capnfishy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Flowers27Sep18_4962.jpg

I watch how he feeds by laying his head on the ground and clawing at the food until he manages to scoop it in. All the lying on the ground has made him particularly scruffy, but he is surviving against the odds.

It's probably how the crossbills evolved!

These are small, but the ones out there are far away.

Wood Duck.

It was difficult to get an isolated shot as there were so many ducks in the brook. Only one Wood Duck though.

Filled the 90D's APSc frame. This guy popped up right in front of me and I did a snap shot with BBF, have finally totally committed to that. He was about 20 feet away.

Hi Robert...

A beautiful photograph that stopped me from scrolling along to spend more time enjoying it. Sharp focus, beautiful light, great pose, smooth background with great processing to hold details throughout the range from bright highlight to deep shadow.
