Then what is the logic behind it being f1.8? Why not f2?

My logic of 1.8 is that it’s trying to maximize aperture while keeping size reasonable. I just don’t think 105mm f/1.4 is a reasonable size lens (relative to the fl). And, I’m just being mindful of Sony’s existing GM lenses. I can’t see them going 100mm f/2 when they already went f/1.8 at 135mm. I’m trying to be realistic in my wishes. But sure, I’d personally be even happier with a 100mm f/2.

I just now remembered that Nikon also made a 105 1.4, so I can see Sony going that way too...I just hope they don’t.

I do wonder what they’ll be up to next. Still got some prime holes to fill at 100 (or 105), 200, and 300.

I wouldn't mind seeing them posted here either. As MM says, as long as it's an occasional thing. I'm always interested in seeing the vision of other photographers here. I'm still waiting for the adapters that will let me shoot 120 film in my 616 film Brownie and would like to share the results from it here too. Of course, by the time I get the adapters, shoot some film, mail it in for developing and wait for them to be mailed back, and hopefully get a decent shot or two, it'll be a couple of weeks from now at least.

OK I said that ;) Agree nevertheless. Just wait till I get my Sony phone/camera haha!

ok...I will keep it very minimal...

this is not a technically good image...but one that I will always like...it is my dad...looking through the images, the scans show that it is a lot like shooting with a 5DMKII...protect the highlights, the shadows have more detail in them...at least on Neopan 400. The sky that night was empty anyway...

Fuji Neopan 400, Konica SRT201 28MM lens.

I think both turned out great. Do you recall what your shutter speed was for the black and white image?

Probably 1/500 and f/8...with 400 speed film I had to keep the aperture small or it would peg out at 1/1000...the max for this camera.

On the past night shooting I started writing down my shot details...

Thanks for the details. My Brownie is fixed at 1/50th shutter speed and I've read two conflicting specs on the aperture. There are two openings that are either f11 and f16 or f16 and f22. The film I bought, Ilford HP5 Plus, has an iso of 400.

I hope I can shoot in bright sunlight at those numbers, otherwise, I'll have to shoot in shade or at least partly cloudy skies.

I seared a Halibut steak for dinner tonight. Cooked in a light olive oil and finished with melted butter and freshly squeezed lemon. Salt and coarse black pepper to taste.

Take your digital outside and re create those settings...

That's what I've been doing...and why I'm a bit concerned. I can compensate OK in PS with the Sony sensor and hope I have the same latitude with film.

Here's a quick one from yesterday, cropped to 17.5 x 9 which is almost the same as the Six-16 film aspect ratio (2.5" x 4.25")

I have a bunch of photography students who are learning the basics of manual shooting. We talked about the triangle of exposure and I have known this concept ever since I was 5-6 years old as a professional photographer's kid. I used this video to explain the concept to my curious students and they got it but we all animously agreed that this guy is pretty obnoxious...https://petapixel.com …xplanation-for-beginners/ (external link)

I put in a bunch of money into my account, not sure it bottomed out yet, schools around here are getting iffy, and if they cancel school for a few weeks, I expect a rather large dip
