So as far as using an extender, how far would you dare to go? I've used a 1.4x extender ii (canon) with my sigma 150-600 and seem to get acceptable images. I've wondered about grabbing a 2x because I can't seem to get close enough. Would that be asking too much?

I'm sure it dim up to f/11 with the 2x... What if I stacked them? I think that'd push it to just past 1600mm... What f/16? Too much? Just buy a blasted telescope? I know I wouldn't be able to hand hold such a set up.

Curious but not sure I want to drop 500 bucks on the extender to just test...

Hard tell with the 150-600. I have used it on my 100-400 II. I prefer it on my 400 prime. You can crop a lot too.

Maybe rent one first.

93% waning gibbous moon tonight, really low on the horizon. Slightly different process, again I used my phone to process the jpg, didn't even wanna mess with the computer, but that's another post...

Used the 1.6x crop mode on the R and I'm wondering if this is losing a bit of detail. Moon also very low on the horizon.

I do bird photos about once a year, and this is that time. A bunch take off as in the first photo, and you turn around to see where they went and you see what's in the second photo.

Today while playing with the 600mm and 2x with the EOS R, my buddy showed up to the stream to get a drink. This is the first time I seen him drink. This was handheld.

I remember you posting this bird a while back. So glad it can survive. How old do you think it is?

Sorry not sure of the age. I would guess a couple years old anyway.

Nice, but needs more blood to add drama.

I am wondering if the EOS R will receive some sort of update when the EOS R5 come out. May be to have the animal eye detect AF?

Very striking photo.
Those brooding clouds and the ridges and the foreground really work together IMO.
Beautiful scenery.

I do not think it will due to the processing of the AF, the R5 will be faster. The 1dx Mark III may get it.
