Our (Ohio) earliest songbirds to commence nesting are horned larks. At least some of the females are sitting on eggs by now. The males are singing a lot, and prone to sitting on fenceposts and other raised spots to sing, as this one was. March 17, 2020, Columbus, Ohio.
