Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is On a Walk. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Since taking a walk is about the only outside thing we should do these days.. Take your camera and show us some things you see.. On a Walk

Edit Let's keep this visual and positive. Just some photos, please. Let's keep this virus free :-)

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

There was a duck pond on our walking route this evening. Apparently the ducks did get the memo regarding social distancing. Stay safe, everyone.

On a Walk .....

Well, I don't have a photo to post yet, but it looks like the officials here in my state just made going on a walk a little easier, for which many of us here are grateful.

Here in Washington state, we are one of the areas that has been hardest hit by the COVID-19 outbreak, with the death toll rapidly closing in on 100 in nearby King County. . So it's especially nice that they would consider our need for recreation and take extra measures to facilitate it.

While on a walk at a local park, where on a day like this(under ordinary circumstances) every square inch would be covered with pick-nickers, tanners, runners and walkers, these two hardy souls were all I could find.

Although my state is under an official "Stay at Home" order, it is not as strict as that name makes it sound. . As I have noted earlier, officials are actually encouraging people to spend time outdoors, for recreational purposes.

The good news about that is that I can still go to the marsh that I like to go to on every sunny morning, to photograph the Red-winged Blackbirds that are courting and nesting there. . It's about a half mile walk from where I park my car to where the stands of Cattails are that the Blackbirds call their home. . And then once I walk to the marsh, I walk along the marsh's edge, back and forth, always walking toward the next Blackbird to alight on a tall Cattail and present a good opportunity for a photo.

So, first is a photo of the marsh and the stand of Cattails where the birds are. . I must confess, this is a crappy cell phone pic that I took last week, so it doesn't qualify for this episode of Worldwide Photo Week #704. . But I thought it would be good to include it in the post, as it shows you where I go walking, and gives context for the next photo, of a male Blackbird taking flight, which I just took a couple of hours ago.

.

It was fun to shoot today, haven't done that in a little bit.

A couple things that caught my eye on this afternoon's walk, and Sophie. Always Sophie :-)

I have been walking a lot as I always do but this week I've bee too busy with #1 my online classes, #2 sewing face masks for a local hospital etc. Every time I went for a walk I didn't even bother with my camera but I finally decided to drag it along.
As I walked along the creek that runs along my street and merges with another leg providing us with a wonderful green belt, I noticed that there were hardly any people It was 85° F or 29° C, almost too warm for this time but not a big deal. Yes, the trail was empty and I shot myself stupid but haven't developed many pics as I've been busy with other things that are my priority #1 and #2. Stay healthy, folks!

At a transit station, these were just a few of many unused parking spaces. Sorry, joayne, I didn't see your request to keep it positive until hours after my walk. A positive point is that the decrease in driving makes the air much cleaner than usual.

No worries, Look :-)

There are so many places to do the talking and what not, I just thought it would be nice to stay visual.

On the walk around my studio. Repurposing fabric offcuts from brush rolls that I make for my Etsy store and turning themgem into face masks with pockets for filters, adjustable elastic and wire for the nose. Crazy busy. Lousy cellphone shot.
