Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is Still Life. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show or Create some Still Life...

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Tuesday, after the new theme is posted and the following Monday by sunset (Whenever that is for you). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them) but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

First apologies for not reading the details about the weekly nature of the series. I have been a bit distracted lately...

Anyway, although I will not use the still life shot I took on Wednesday of the grille shadow as it now appears in my gallery, here is a shot of the Pohutukawa tree that grows in our garden. These normally bloom in early December and as such they are called the NZ Christmas tree as the thousands that line the waterfront turn the whole scene to red and green. We have been having such fine weather (a real Indian Summer) that the tree has decided to reprise its blooms.

John_B I think you have similar trees in Hawaii?

Tronhard, it looks similar to the Ohiʻa Lehua tree here in Hawaii :-)

Spotted these during our late afternoon walk around the block :-)

I'd say the two middle ones are definitely real and the other ones fake!

Unfinished business

From my driveway we have a view across the valley to a subdivision that is stopped in its tracks for the duration of our isolation lock down. I think the people who get the ones that are weather-tight will be luckier, although we are having an amazing "Indian Summer", with continuously warm, dry days for almost 4 months - in fact we are in drought and it's well into fall here...

I'm not sure how the businesses involved in these things will fare - without turnover and sales they are carrying the cost of financing the whole thing and materials like fencing etc. have to be there and they have to be paid for...

nice! must say my woodwork teachers would not approve of putting a plane down on it's blade (strange the stuff you remember after 40 years or so!)
