Yes I have watched those videos. I am trying to remove the little crookedness that comes based on the different sized pins. Also wanted to see where one can use the safety cables. Maybe I am worrying too much.

I wrap the camera strap around the boom arm knuckle as a "safety".

What do you mean by pins?

The drop down pin or the 5/8 pin.

For the few times I do this, I have a Gitzo Explorer. This is fine for the Canon M6 but would not be for an SLR rig. Definitely something like a C-stand as shown.

This is my set-up. I also use a bubble level placed on the screen. The flipping screen is quite nice as I'm usually facing the top side so this works well for the small table top sets. The wireless flash transmitter is not attached yet the extended screen still clears it. In another yet related thought this is why I want the M6 MkII because it can be tethered. The 2" width of the QR clamp as shown allows some adjustability for macros. I picked up a macro focusing rail that will be adapted for this type of use.

Got it.

I use a spigot in the clamp and a ball head.

Without the ball head, set up would be a lot more time consuming and difficult.

I came across this a bit ago:
https://www.jestik.com …2ftw1wEAQYBCABEgKI7fD_BwE (external link)

This microscope arm has a good range of adjustments. Not sure how well it may do with an SLR. That may take a call to GRS about support capacity. A gripped SLR may weigh more than a typical stereo microscope head:

We have this stand left over from when the Mrs. was doing jewelry. The plan is to adapt this microscope arm for similar overhead shots.

Thanks, I got a ball head and it should work.

Nice mood here and I would have loved to see a little more light in places. The spoon's flat part looks dirty or something, so I would have cleaned up and got rid of your own reflection in the fork and some specks of sugar removed. :)
What is this thing coated with sugar? Looks like chunks of Turkish delight but I'm sure it's something else. Sorry, didn't mean to criticize you; just threw some thought out there.

Thank you for the comments. The dark mood was dictated by the client, and I actually darkened it more for them in post. I do agree that the spoon handle is a perhaps a little too grungy. It isn't dirty, just scratched up.The coated sugar things are the chef's take on beignets. Cheers!

The flatware did not look dirty to me, it looked well used from a restaurant or hotel.
