Its that time of year.

You walk into the woods and suddenly this guy attacks you for entering his territory.

The Western capercaillie is in heat and chases of every contender human or bird from his area.

Taken with the 1D X Mark III and the 100-400mm v2.

Looks like they'll be takin off soon!

I still need to get out there, heard it's a complete ZOO of photographers (oregon flashbacks, that's one of the reasons I moved here!).

Not many people know about this nest. It's less than ideal with only one small opening which is facing due south. There's another nest in the general area that is much more open, with an east exposure that typically has between 10 and 20 photographers lined up in the morning.

Thanks Mike. I thought the original image was a bit overexposed, so I adjusted it in Lightroom and re-posted it.

Love the pose.

Thanks.
Fascinating to see that you have similar sparrows on your side of the world to the ones we have in the UK. Nice shot.

As mentioned they're yours
Always wondered why we ended up with Sparrows, Blackbirds and Starlings from the old country and not some others.
Don't send any more though thanks :p
