The amount of "crap" on this thread is not overwhelming. I think we could afford to be a bit tolerant, and also remember that all of us don't have the same tastes. This is a good thread to give each other some pointers, especially to newcomers. The Critics Corner won't do it because almost nobody ever uses it.

so, this thread (Headshots) is meant only to have images that are studio or posed images?

yeah, i know maybe not necessarily but something up one to notches from "snap shots"..

got it. ill go delete my headshots, that dont fit the criteria....

at the same time, remember that headshots shouldnt contain much if anything below the shoulders.. no mid-chest to top of head, no waist to top of head images...

I don't think that a headshot necessarily needs to be posed or shot in a studio.
However I agree with you that by definition there should be only the head, neck and a small part of the shoulders, upper chest on the photo, anything that shows more is already a portrait and not a headshot. Anyone who is unsure what a headshot is just need to google Peter Hurley to get an idea.
For example the photo in the previous post above is not a headshot but rather a fashion portrait.

i like it but, i got rid of a couple of my headshots because they fit the "these are no different than snapshots" vs a studio produced image...

still like it a lot though!

A Heath Ledger mannequin, taken through a window at a storefront in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada a few years ago. Does this count?
