Interesting about all this new gear talk. I’m not really looking to acquire anything new. I just want the opportunity to go out shooting again. Until then, I will live vicariously through each of your lens purchases.

My 200-600 arrives between 5:30 and 7:45 PM........ Expect a Moon shot lol

I finally looked at the different surface options. The Surface Studio are the ones I liked but lot more $$. Guess 16" MBP will be good enough. Or buy cheaper windows laptop. Trying to avoid going with windows after using MAC/Linux for last 6 plus years. My desktop is still windows.

The studios are nice...but yeah they are $$$

If you don't need to detach the display to use as a tablet, there are a lot of windows touch screen options that support windows Ink. You just never hear about them because they don't have the brand appeal of Apple these days.

I used Macbook Pro's for almost 15 years...basically once they started using intel chips back in my undergrad days.

I transitioned away from MacOS last year for a variety of reasons...wanting a touch screen for post processing without being limited to iOS on the iPad is one. Their BS with their locked down ecosystem is the other. Last year my macbook Pro died and I discovered that all my hard drives were unreadable on non Apple devices because they had been converted to APFS. That was the last straw for me.

Very close to it :D

Can’t decide between that and the 85. Was looking through all my 135L photos and it’s made me really want this

I did love the 135L I used to shoot that and the EF50/1.4 exclusively back then. Great for car images too imo.

I bought a Contax Carl Zeiss vario-sonnar thingy 80-200/4 - The Tamron is listed as £1350 over here and even if it goes down in price, it still won't be enough to justify for its use.

I'm already thinking 40/1.2 & 80-200/4 as a hiking kit.

Congrats Lee, my CY adaptor arrives tomorrow and I’ll finally be able to try out my 35-70. I like the old CY lenses

I’ll check the sigma out, hadn’t even considered it. I was just looking at the GM since I had the 16-35 and waiting on the 24 arriving. I’m not a portrait shooter by any stretch of the imagination but I just know I loved my 135L shots and I will find use cases for it

I love the look of 135mm lenses. They're just a bit tricky to use from a working distance perspective so they go underutilized whenever I have them...even when I rented one for my last wedding.

Lol my g.a.s. transitioned to the work from home variety. Shooting mostly family photographs had me itching to pick up the CV40 again. It made the samyang 75 1.8 so hard to resist.

I dont have any experience with a 135, but,

putting the size and weight out of the way, few things I dont like about the 85gm is the slow af and loud motor sound, it freaked me out at first lol but when your out and about with the outside ambient noise its not a biggy.

the 135 af is faster and is said to be a little sharper. 85gm has better rendering and rounder balls . If you like the 135 focal length and its a big factor for you Id say get it. I chose the 85gm because the slightly better rendering and bokeh and I always liked the 50 on crop. also I dont like to step back too much to take a picture.

I'm going to share this picture here for a short while and delete it later:P

Cool. Can't wait to see what that one can do Eddie :)

The other advantage is, the Contax CZ will also fit my Yashica 35mm SLR :)

I feel much the same...I’d love to have both. 135GM is way faster AF, but I like the 85GM bokeh better.

If you can afford it, I’d go for one of them.

Sigma 135mm is great too, but I prefer genuine native FE mount lenses and don’t want Sigma’s FE-hack-mounts. And that’s pure OCD on my part. :)

Hah yes I've held off on them too...mostly because we've seen in the 35 1.2 and 14-24mm what Sigma can do when they design the optics of FE lenses that are optimized for mirrorless mount dimensions

Since December my Canon 5DsR sat in the closet and got no love after I bought the A7Riv. I sold it today.

That gets me more than half way to a 200-600. :-D

I finally got a lens spanner wrench so I can remove the back lens element on my Kodak Monitor Six-16 camera. I'm still waiting for one more tool to help remove the front lens element which should arrive Friday. I've discovered that the lens on this camera has a lot of hazing and fungus so I need to clean the lens before I can even think about using it. There are also a lot of pinholes in the bellows which I plan on dealing with as well. I have some liquid electrical tape that I plan on using for that.

Here's a shot of my 'workspace' to take the lens apart for cleaning. Between one of my Godox LED lights and magnifying glasses, I should be able to do the work needed. At this point, I figure I have nothing to loose in trying since the camera is no better than a display piece as it is. Oh, the red towel is to help prevent small parts or springs from 'bouncing' and to help increase their visibility for me too.

Gene how do you like the SL60W? I assume these are 60W LEDs. How powerful are those?

For shooting a portrait or still life, they work fine for me. With still life, I can use a smaller aperture and longer exposure times since the camera is on a tripod. This is the main use for these lights for me. I like seeing the results from the lights while I'm adjusting them. You may want one with more power if you're shooting people, especially full body shots.

Below is the only portrait I took using both that I'm aware of. I used one light through a strip box behind my right shoulder and the 2nd light front left, also through a strip box and a white foam core board also on my right for some fill. I wanted to overpower the ambient light is why I used f8 for this shot.

Black Spire's outpost in Galaxies Edge.

Was flipping through old photos and this stood out because the look of an improvised marketplace made out of scraps reminds me so much of the slums of Midgar in Final Fantasy VII Remake, which I've been playing a lot of lately. My love for nerdy escapists things permeates in all of my photography...even portraits
