If you are in the market for a 135 and the price isn't the primary factor then there is nothing out there better than the GM. I've owned Sigma 135, the Zeiss APO Sonnar 135 and the Canon 135L, they all have their strengths and weaknesses but at the end of the day if I had to choose just one it would be the GM, blazing fast AF with outstanding sharpness wide open. From an IQ perspective the Sigma and Sony are close, the Sony is a bit sharper wide open and has a bit more contrast than the sigma, the Sigma might have a slight edge in bokeh though. The Zeiss APO is very similar to the Sony in terms of sharpness and bokeh but obviously not AF. I used the 135L back in my Canon days and at the time it was fantastic for it's era, it's still a great optic but it's not nearly as good as the new modern 135s.

I don't tend to use the 135 for should type portrait shots, for that I much prefer the GM 85 which has outstanding bokeh shot wide open. I like the 135 for full body shots where subject isolation is the goal, I use it similarly to the 200F2

Was flipping through old photos and this stood out because the look of an improvised marketplace made out of scraps reminds me so much of the slums of Midgar in Final Fantasy VII Remake, which I've been playing a lot of lately. I've been having issues with package deliveries too. On April 23, I ordered three small items from B&H. For whatever reason, it was sent in two separate packages. I received one of them last week and the other just arrived today. Sheesh!

I had some small items shipped from Amazon. Unknown to me they were shipped to my work address which is closed. Tried to talk to Amazon CS rep to reroute to my home address but no luck.

I shipped my iPad Pro off to Apple today to be repaired, or hopefully replaced. Even if they’re super-quick about it it’s still going to be a painful wait till I get “my precious” back in my hands.

You can export a png graph with clear background and import them and resize like any image imported to video. That would be the most basic way for a talking head video with graph. If want full screen, the screen shot software will be easier to add captions, there are a few ways to do this. A fully rendered chart through an animator is outside my ability

I am working on a new 5 maybe 6 part series.

First day using A7RIII. I dropped it! Swapping lenses, removing 1.4TC, did not fully seat camera to lens (200-600) and camera dropped off lens as I was walking. First time I have dropped / damaged gear in about 5 years and last time was slipping on moss. 2 tiny scratches, it's probably a good thing. Get over the baby new gear phase and just use it.
First subject, Powerful owl, late dawn. Full image, then a crop. Highest megapickle camera I have owned and as expected good 'cropability'

RE: 135GM vs Sigma 135:

Since the Sigma is just essentially integrating the DSLR adapter into their FE mount this creates unhappy weight distribution issues. A 135mm 1.8 is a heavy lens - no escaping the physics. But, with the Sigma all that weight is cantilevered out from the camera via the adapter - err - “fe mount”. So, when mounted to the the Sigma 135 is not merely a bit heavier, it’s also not well-balanced.

This is more seriously why - even though I have a strong color rendering preference for Sigma lenses vs Sony lenses - I’d pick the 135GM.

Just some more food for thought...

Someday I really hope to add the 20G or 24GM along with the 135 GM to use with my lovely Sigma 35 1.2. These are incredibly great lenses imo. OTOH, perhaps by the time I finally am ready to buy Sigma will finally have actually-truly-native enticing options.

On a personal note, my desire of buying any cameras or lenses this year have greatly diminished. Things are so uncertain right now and I want to be as ready and as agile as I can be to take whatever steps necessary to survive in these frightening economic times. We’ve stepped into a global depression and we’re only in it ankle deep so far. What’s it all like in six or twelve months from now? Will we be in over our heads?

So right now I’m putting a 4-year pause on my gear plans. I’ll definitely replace my camera if it stops working, otherwise I’m sticking with what gear I’ve got for the near future.

I've used the 135GM at a Sony event and it's such a beautiful lens. I actually don't mind the working distance but with what I shoot I could never justify the cost.

I keep telling myself I won't purchase more gear either but ever day I'm tempted by new lenses Recently I've been looking at something in the 50mm range like the Lensbaby Velvet 56mm.
