And I don't know who you are... Friendly place.

I am just getting back into the hobby... haven't used a 'proper' camera for 20+ years, still have my last film camera, an EOS Elan.

Still have some old lenses, so going to stick with Canon, just trying to decide what first digital camera to get... and decide between DSLR and mirrorless.

I did purchase a 6D on Ebay from a supposedly reputable large US store (Roberts Camera) used, "mint" with less than 7K shutter count...
It did look nice on the outside, but when I inspected the mirror, it had all kinds of contamination and stuff stuck to it.. some blew off with my rocket blower, but most would not move.. some marks looked like scratches/scrapes, so I will be shipping it back Monday.

Next, I thought about buying a new 'import' version of the 6D from one of the large Camera chains that sell them (6Ave Camera, etc.), but spent the weekend reading as much as I could on other models and watched a ton of YouTube videos.

Now I am considering also the 'RP' mirrorless and not sure if I will get one of these, or just wait to see what is coming this Fall, if anything... but it would be nice to get something now.

I don't want to invest a lot in a camera now, waiting for the new models that will be released in the near future. Actually quite excited about this.

Oh, and the reason for all the short posts, other than yes, I did like the pictures, was the requirement of this site to have a minimum of 30 posts before being allowed to post in the classified section... I was wanting to put a wanted add.

Milky Way shoot went awry but some interesting cloud structure made up for it.

I picked up the EOS R back in December and sold off my 6D. I don't have the confidence in low light situations with the R like I did with the 6D. Might have to pick up one again!

Its interesting to hear you say this. In the last few months I had been toying with buying the EOS R. I wanted the articulated screen to help with close up shots of things on the ground and also the 1/8000 shutter speed would have helped with my f/1.4 glass.

In the end I decided not to go with the EOS R. Like you, I enjoy the high ISO performance of the 6D but the thing that swayed me was the low shutter count on my 6D. I bought it new in 2014 and I only have 20,000 clicks on it. I simply haven't used it enough to justify replacing it. I would just like to point out that I shoot film as much as digital and I have 5 or 6 film bodies that I use regularly. I don't shoot sports or action so its mainly single shot. Also, being used to shooting film (which is expensive) I tend to use the 6D frugally..... so no "spray and pray" shooting. That's why my shutter count is so low. Reading the other thread on here about the guy with million clicks on his 6D made me feel quite embarrassed

So my 6D, which outperforms my own ability and produces some stunning shots with the right glass.... stays.....for now. I just need to keep getting on my belly for those close up ground shots, which even at my age isn't a problem. Its the getting back up which is a problem

I grew up using film, and even worked for some time using film. I have seen some spray and hope photogs using film, mainly their film and camera gear with electric film advance was supplied by employers. The economical mode of shooting stays with you for a lifetime, and after around 20 yrs digital use, I realised I could change my ISO between shots! :D
