Well this just happened outside my back door. I was watching this little mantis fail at catching a couple small bugs...then is scored a green lacewing! It was pretty gruesome watching it through the lens close-up, but this little mantis must have been full after this meal. The mantis was a bit under 2 inches long, so still a very small one.

Well done nailing the plane of focus on that first frame! Getting both the predator and the prey's eyes in focus is really important.

Thank you kindly Archi, this little critter was a little put out by the attentions of my lens at first. But he calmed down a lot and started striking poses in the hope that I would lose interest and go away! :)
