Never seen this from a Bunting.

I was just waiting for a less obstructed shot of the perched bird, but this happened. No enough SS... :-/

That's a beauty Phil. Very nice
Did it grab it or just try?
I was watching a Fantail once and it was flicking it's head left and right watching the insects fly past, then suddenly it snapped up one as it passed. Never left it's perch. Amazing to watch.

Thank you, Richard.

I'm pretty sure he just nipped it. In the subsequent shot, you can see it seeming to fall, with possibly a chunk missing. I'll go back & post it too, after I finish going thru our shots from the AM.

In the top one, I was please to see how close he looked while eating seeds. Then I came up to Wifey's shots. She was using a 1.4x TC. -? We were shooting from the car & she was in the back seat - behind me.

Hey Richard,
Here's the subsequent frame I mentioned earlier. The bee "appears" to be falling rather then flying off. Sadly, the quality is even worse than the 1st one. Lol...

Always fascinating seeing them in natural life.
They really are striking birds.

I was standing still on a small game trail, and this guy kepy walking toward me. At about 10 ft my shutter must have given me away and he went into the brush. Got a bunch of good shots, though.

Seen it about 5 times in the past couple months. Sometimes they eat on the spot, somerimes they carry it away, maybe to a nest or youngsters.
