Red-winged Blackbirds aren't as difficult as some others in similar size. Females are lot easier to capture in flight and males are easier in portraiture. Males tend to be lazy and like to sit still for a long time while the females are more flighty so more opportunity to shoot them airborne. Females also tend to telegraph their take off lot more so than the male counterparts.
