Another one from Arches, but no arch in sight.

Is that Mt Evans? Love the bristlecone grove there.

Yes, the spot called Mt. Goliath. One good thing about the road closure - very quiet and peaceful, just me and a few birds chirping. Bad thing - rode my bike up there, whew.

Do you know of any other bristlecone pine areas? One of my favorite photo subjects. I only know of two other spots, up near Alma and Kite Lake, but that's it.

Edit - one more spot I thought of - there are also some scraggly pines at St. Mary's Lake.

I don't know of any others right offhand. I'm sure that I stumbled across others back in the 70's and 80's when I was spending so much of my time off scrambling through the Colorado high country, but can't spot them on a map any more. I even have photos from those days that I can't put a place name on.

Nicely done. The trees beside the brook. I actually really enjoy this. Few B&W photos feel "a live" to me.
I shot B&W exclusively for many years back in the early 90's. I miss it, but it
was film and it's a difference experience as you know from having the Minolta,
which is funny because that's what I shot back then.

However, there is real magic in your photo and the things that can be done with digital
is just incredible.

Thank you for sharing this. Very nice, and all done without the filters and lots of time
in the dark room.

Good to know that if I can get out of the "south" I won't be heading to Mt. Evans this summer.
Bummer, but the area will get a nicely deserved break from the masses of bi-peds.

Nice images of those Bristol Cones. At least you could photo those before going through the
gate.
