In this particular instance we all had to travel in the two brake vans at the rear (see shot below) and when we arrived at a suitable spot we would decamp and the train would back up and do a couple of run pasts. When we were finished everybody climbed back into the brake vans and off we went to another spot which is how I managed to take the shot. Just a heads up re. photo charters, this is how many photographers were on one charter, which sometimes limits ones creativity...............and personal space in the brake vans

Inspeqtor I was hit more than 15 times More info Post edited over 3 years ago by Inspeqtor. | Jun 03, 2020 08:37 | #6051 Every year I buy a calendar with TRAIN shots in it for each month. Several years ago this image was in the calendar and I was really surprised how they could LIFT a 200 ton steam engine like this and move it across the room back in 1924. This really blew me away! I scanned this photo to be able to keep it. Image hosted by forum (1048110) © Inspeqtor [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. Charles

Certainly a hurculean effort Those old railway workshops are, as said there, a collection of skills and machines. Magnificent to wander through if any has the chance. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as I also have! Charles

I went down to the Conway Scenic Railway to shoot the train's approach. As they were switching the engine, I caught this wee one looking out the window. Sadly, I was not able to contact the mother before the train departed back to it's station of origin. I had not posted these anywhere, as I was a bit uneasy about posting pictures of other's children, but with the passing of time, and such a friendly site such as this, here are my "Little riders". Oh that brings back some memories, painful though. I remember during my childhood Back in Sri Lanka every school vacation was a train ride to my cousins in the country or seaside. I cant remember the many number of times those window shutters have slammed down our fingers! Neal
