there is nothing special technically or artistically; i was just walking with my wife early in the morning on the Turnbull Canyon hiking trails

I was just walking and shooting; nothing planned, no tripods, one shot and move on, just having fun

......so, there is roughly thirty miles from the water tower in Whittier to downtown Los Angeles then 18 more miles to the Getty

if you live in the area, you can identify so many landmarks:

the Beverly Hospital, the Getty museum, mid Wilshire area, the observatory, the 710 fwy/10 fwy exchange, the Citadel shopping building, the Mormon Temple, 605 freeway

so much stuff within a 16 x 9 image

just wanted to share this image and thoughts

Cal Poly, Pomona campus was the perfect location to do an impromptu car shoot for my Model 3... I'll be better prepared, next time with my tripod... This 8 stitch pano was done hand held in the late afternoon... Canon 5DsR + 50L + Lee 0.6 Soft Edge GND Filter... ISO 200, f/8 @ 1/250sec in Manual Mode...

:)

From the Sea to the Sign and BEYOND!!!

So much to visually consume... From the Pacific Ocean (below) to the Hollywood Sign (top) and everything in-between... From the refineries to a plane landing at the Hawthorne Airport to the Verdugo Mountains above the landmark sign, it's really fascinating all that was captured in this photo... More than 30 miles worth of visual interpretation... Enjoy!!!

:)

PS. This thread has been dormant for almost a year... Time for my fellow SoCal photogs to bring it back to life in 2020!!!

Sunset Over Structures...

Revisiting this old shooting spot from many years ago... Sunset was perfectly blending with downtown Los Angeles' skyline... 1Ds3 + 50L + Lee 105mm CPL and Lee 0.6 GND Filters (stacked)... ISO 50, f/11 @ 13 second exposure...

:)

Butch

love the old school new school stacking - many say they can get the same in photoshop; I am not that good at post processing

in my experience, I really like the result of my CPL and stacking up to two additional filters up front ( i use the cokin x-pro line of filters )

what time of the day was that image taken?

good work as always

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Are these HDR images? I like the super saturated, high contrast look... very nice IMHO !!
