An extreme macro image of a single pollen-covered anther in a hibiscus flower. Those spiky yellow pollen grains are approximately 100 µm in diameter :)

Westonbirt Arboretum reopened last week and we booked to go in to there today, the first time for months. And it was wonderful just to wander round the Old arboretum again after months of waiting. It is a wonderful place!

Variegated tulip tree flowers. Note the 4 lobed leaves. They are the only 4 lobed ones I have ever seen

More from Westonbirt. The tall foxglove on the right is well over 8' tall and by far the tallest one I have seen. I was crouching to get the sense of the height.

It's kind of funny to see this post today. I've been going through images I took when I first started shooting and I did a few with a similar process using an old Canon 1000d/XS. I was thinking I should pick up some flowers and shoot it again now that I've had 10 years to improve my skills. I love the way this turned out.

One of many flower clusters on a large shrub in someone's yard, visited by bees. All bees ignored what look like flowers with four petals. Are they bracts? Evidently the nectar is in the smaller structures behind them.

So I'm not sure what variety this flower is, or for that matter I have no idea how it got into the garden. But be that as it may, here is an attempt to show its beauty.

The bee did sign a release

Thanks Stephen, I thought you had used focus stacking - It is on my list of things to do. I will try it sometime.:-)
Regards.

Thank you Ray.

As I said, I nelt down to take it. Getting down was no problem, but I cursed Newton for inventing gravity when it came to getting back up though :-(

There is no way that I could pick out a favorite photo on this thread. There are just too many really striking photos and they are lovely to see, so thank you to everyone who has posted :love:
