CV40 renders similarly to the 85GM in that wide open it has a bit of a glow, some purple fringing you can see in the magnified viewfinder, and contrast is a bit lower. Of course DOF is very narrow too.

Stop down to f1.8 and things change....things get sharper of course, but the fringing is gone, microcontrast kicks up.

Basically wide open you get a dreamy glow with a bit of a vintage look (flatter contrast but still sharp). Stop it down a bit and you get a technically cleaner rendering. It's probably the sweet spot in most cases, but that wide open look has a lot of character to it.

Trying to get sun stars with my Tamron 28-75. I probably over processed this image. Please let me know if you think so too. I am still struggling with my post processing and unable to decide when to stop...

That is a nice sunstar. The halo around the tree is a bit much to my eye.

Thanks for the feedback. Would making the sky less blue make it look better?

PS: I tried a few things to get rid of the halo around they tree. This was originally edited in luminar 4.

1. Reduced intensity of blue.
2. Removed sharpening mask I put on the tree.
3. Removed all AI adjustments.

Nothing helped in getting rid of the halo.

I tried editing the same image in affinity photo and on1 photo raw and looks like they don't produce as much halo around the tree, but I think there is a very subtle difference in the intensity of blue around the tree and elsewhere. I will create a separate thread in the relevant section to get some help with editing. Thanks very much for the feedback again.

Anytime that I have an image that ends up with what I consider a flaw I. The edit, I go back and figure out what I did that caused it. I. The case of halos like that, did you do a lot of highlight recovery? I am not familiar with Luminar 4.

I dropped the highlights and recovered shadows. I will try processing from scratch on luminar again. I only tried removing everything I added using luminar's AI features as I thought that might be causing this.

(Dunno what's happening to the file though... the full-size version is definitely sharp, this one looks fuzzy.)

Just wrapped up the second video of the week for posting next week...closing out the series on shooting water, I did all in the field for this one. This was one of the resulting images.

Something different. Came across this bloke's WLA while out for a bird shoot, he only just got it going and registered.
I suggested he ride past me. He was pretty happy viewing the result on the A7R3 EVF, just emailed him this.
