Went down to the south coast of England today where many cruise ships are moored up awaiting permission to restart cruising again which I fear may not be for some time! :-(

The U.S. fishing boat Republic on charter by the International Pacific Halibut Commission to do experimental fishing in the Gulf of Alaska, 1973. A Commission scientist sits in the forecastle door and records the catches. Showing at the bottom is the end of a measuring cradle on which a Commission technician measures the length of each halibut caught. He also weighs them and removes their otoliths (ear bones) from which the ages of the fish can be determined.

Wreck deliberately run aground - stolen by Haitian refugees to get to the Bahamas. They were quickly rounded up and sent back to Haiti.
