American Snout. Lots coming through now.

Second photo is of one that appears to have had something happen to its snout. Feeding fine though!

I thought it was pretty cool (external link) and it makes sense. What we've been calling instinct may in fact just be genetic memory, and it would explain how a lot of creatures are born knowing what to do. A butterfly doesn't have to learn how to fly, it just does it...

I wonder how much difference there is between the two terms, complicated by epigenetics, the change in inheritable traits without a change in DNA sequence.
