I generally use AV mode and a fixed ISO with ETTL
Then realise your ss can't exceed 200(max with 5DIV and flash) and if there is more light there is no way to adjust(with fixed iso and aperture).

Ah yeah good point. Perhaps I should use Auto ISO though obviously if it gets down to ISO 100 it cannot reduce this any further.
