Not bad at all! How did you find the tracking?

It actually tracks very well. I have done a bit of BIF with it, just a bit slow and you have to get adjusted to the blackout between shots. Overall a nice camera but just not the best for sports of BIF but still doable.

back to being sad for having bought my R only a few weeks ago. Maybe they'll announce a firmware update?

Ah, I’m just messing, I am enjoying it and I consider it a good improvement vs my 5Dmk3. I’m happy with my purchase, if only they’d fix the tracking a little bit in a new firmware, I’d be 100% happy. Maybe they’ll even be able to port the animal face detection from the new models?

Would love one (R5), but the UK price is £4199 for R5 body-only, which at current exchange rates is US $5285, not the US $3899 you guys will be paying.

Canon UK have usually kept the numbers the same and just changed the currency symbol in front (they have with the R6), which is still a rip-off even given the current poor exchange rates. This time however Canon UK are really taking the proverbial with pricing when it comes to the R5 - 35% higher price, get real Canon UK! I hate the Sony with a passion, but at least they usually play fair on the price equivalents for the same camera between countries/currencies.

In the meantime I'll enjoy reading the user feedback on the R5 & R6, and dream whilst I wait a year until the grey-imports become available in the UK to get USD equivalent prices.

I'm still loving my R, so I'll spend my hard-earnt cash on some nice RF glass instead I think.

I caved and pre-ordered the R5 through Canon. They very conveniently sent me an email with a 10% off coupon a few hours after the announcement. Guess I need to sell the R and the 24-70LII that I have...

It is supposed to get one pretty soon but I don't know how much it will help in probably what you are looking for. The AF is already good on the R. It just doesn't have the processing power to get past the blackout and FPS significantly.

A severe nocturnal thunderstorm passed near by and put on a heck of a show! Not the best images and pretty bleh edits I did on the jpgs with my phone to get them out there.

Actually might pull these up on the computer and see what I can do. In the meantime, pretty excited, haven't caught many storms or actual photos with the R lately.
