Yeah agree, but will come down, should be about $6,500. Be better if the AUD was stronger.

Doesn't make sense to me.

$3899 in the US equals about $5600 AU + GST so still about $400 more

Georges and Digi Direct have them for pre-order $6585.

Anyone in the states want to send me one ??

Yeah mate I never get it, same as buying a Harley in Aus. The markup is pathetic. Even back in the day when the AUD was at $1.04 against the USD the Harley prices remained the same in Aus, go figure.

Don't start... here in NZ the R5 is being priced at $7789 (still cheaper than I'd thought, but still nearly $3k more than I'd like to spend)

Actually, best idea would be to buy one and leave the country and claim back the GST at the Airport, I might try that if I can ever get back in and out again...

I did try the old claim at the airport trick. First time no issues, second time she said are you coming back in..........well i do live here.........sorry no bananas

I think this is the right path.

If the R5 is as stellar as the marketing shows it to be it will be interesting to see how many R users become disappointed with the R. If so then Canon will have to keep the R5/R6 pricing far above the R price or the R will be dead. And just imagine how many R bodies are on the shelves right now.


Another interesting point will be seeing how well or not well the R5/R6 perform with EF glass only. Of course, everything we are seeing is based on RF glass and that super fast body/lens communication he mentioned. I could see myself buying an R5 but no way could I ever change out all my glass.
