I do like the owls, the wing span on the eagle owl is massive, but it does not look like it when sitting still.

I’ve actually got a tattoo of a Bengal eagle owl on my left arm (part of my sleeve). I love them

I don't know for sure. I've never tried it or needed to. But I'm certain you are along the right lines with your idea. ..... I've read similar with astro stuff where a dummy battery is used with an "input" wire to connect to the external supply.

Eddie wrote in post #19095203 (external link)
I don’t know for sure so check before I kill your cam but you should be able to attach it to the mains via the charger and t will charge as you are using it. I know I can do this with my GoPro

Edit - so however you plug the camera in to the mains to charge, you should be able to also turn it on and use it during that time

Thanks for the responses guys. I have a couple of weeks before I need to get everything set up so I appreciate your input. I'll let everyone know what I wound up using in the end.

dude...I gotta hold off on that lens...LOL. I have a Senior Session tomorrow and the 135L is in tow, but I wish it was the 135GM.

Do any of you use a power bank with your Sony camera occasionally? I want to use my ZV-1 as a webcam and want to be sure the battery doesn't die before a video call is completed. I've found a dummy battery for the RX-100 that uses the same battery as the ZV-1 I believe (NP-BX1).

Or, does anyone know if I can just connect the dummy battery to a 5v, 2A USB wall charger?

Recommendations welcome

I have a big battery pack that I will use if I ever need it. It plugs in just like a charger cable would into the micro USB port and it has enough juice to power the camera for a really long time. I would only use it once the two batteries were exhausted...and TBH, I have yet to shoot anything long enough to need that. Now, using as a web cam, that is different.

Thanks Travis. Yep, my main concern are the tiny batteries in my ZV-1 and I'd prefer to have confidence that my video call to the VA hospital won't be cut short. If push comes to shove, I'll use my Galaxy s10e or my Surface Pro 3. I am hoping for a larger screen than my phone...and better quality video than my laptop though.

if you have a battery pack, like this one: https://www.amazon.com …re-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y (external link)
it will run for a long time. I plugged my LumeCube Panel Mini into my smaller battery pack and it ran for 5 straight hours during a Zoom meeting earlier this week. I don't think it would have any issue powering a camera for a long time. How long do the stock batteries last for video?

Thanks for the link, I'll go ahead and pick one up for myself. As to how long the stock battery lasts, I'm not really sure but I did buy a three battery + external charger kit for it when I bought the camera.

Dummy battery does Not work well, no access to tripod socket and battery door cannot be removed, it’s stuck dead.

USB charger works very well and should power for a long long time. I tried on a completely depleted battery and it seemed to power indefinitely with 5v2A.

Ooh, I forgot about access to the battery door when mounted on a tripod. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks again to everyone for your recent well wishes. We are all doing fine.

---------------
I finally had a chance to shoot. I got myself up early around 4 AM MT and drove about 45 minutes to the trailhead at Panorama Point. The hike was straight up to the top. Sunrise was nothing to get excited over but I was happy to be out in nature and working various compositions. Here is one that I recently finished editing showing the view from the top towards some of Colorado's mountain peaks. The sun was rising behind me.

Sony cameras already do animal eye AF. Unless there is something I'm missing?

I hate myself somedays. I have never shot astro with the 70-180 but hey why not go to see the comet NeoWise and hey why not be late miss a frikin amazing sunset and then arrive on location just as the comet is showing up and then pulling out the new set up and trying to hit the mark.

I wanted to get petros and the comet in focus I knew it would be difficult but its very possible. I never took a breath I just started running. Set up, shoot,.... not what I wanted,.... try this that and throw the kitchen sink while not going through a plan (which i had gone thru in my head earlier in the day) I just really f'ed up the shoot.

Anyway heres some Neowise
