This question is for those who have this exact model or know the answer from first hand experience.

I just bought one. It's not the 600EX-RT II it's the 600EX-RT. I wanted to save a few bucks since truth be told I could probably get by fine with a 430 so I bought a "new" one.
Technically used but it's never been used, it's "new, old stock."

I need to know if the select dial is stiff on all of them or if this one has a problem or defect. The dial is very stiff and difficult to turn. Definitely not a 1 finger operation, at least not with ease. It's very stiff. Did I mention it's very stiff?

Are they all like that or did I end up with a bad one?

Thanks.

All of my dozen 600EX-RT units have very "clicky" dials, but by no means stiff. I can easily reach up with one hand and turn the dial with one finger.

I'd have to say the dial on mine is a bit stiff. Definitely not as easy to turn as many other Canon dials I have used.

1Dx - 5DIII - 40D - Canon 24-70LII, 100L macro, 135L, 16-35L, 70-200 f4 and 100-400L lenses

- "Very good" is the enemy of "great." Sometimes we confuse the two.

All five of my 600 EX-RT’s and two ST-E3 RT Transmitters all have the same consistent feel. All have a hard stop “click”as you adjust. Slight pressure with thumb allows rotation.
