I am new to this astrophotography field - would you mind explaining what do you refer to as light images and dark images and how they differ in settings, technique etc. Also what method did you use to combine the 30 images? Thanks in advance The light images are the ones taken of the comet. Dark images were taken at the same setting as the light ones, but with the lens cap on.

Scrumhalf Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 23, 2020 02:51 | #112 My attempt from the Angeles National Forest, a few miles out of town. Skies were so so, as was my attempt. I would have loved to have spent another hour setting up more carefully, but I was rushed for time and only got to shoot light frames. 5 shots in total, 2 seconds each, for a total of 10 seconds of exposure. I used Deep Sky Stacker which is a free program. Other than a picture here and there of the moon I'm also new to astrophotography. A sky tracker is a must to stack images. This video helped me with the program. https://youtu.be/KPnCGsnyOsw

Slagrim Senior Member More info Post edited 1 month ago by Slagrim. | Jul 24, 2020 05:05 | #119 I heard Neowize will be at closest distance to the Earth on 7/23/2020. Looking through the thread with so many great images I decided to take a picture of the comet too. So, I grabbed Sigma 150-600mm lens with ASI294MC camera on it and installed the lens on equatorial mount. I had ~30 min before the comet dove behind tree line on my backyard. I got 13X30sec sub-frames with SharpCap Pro. So... I got a picture too. Image hosted by forum (1055921) © Slagrim [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW.
