Shot from over 700 feet away, this was kind of a "trial" to see if I could get anything decent from outside the fence at Portland International Raceway, since the event (a practice race weekend sort of thing) was closed to spectators etc. Not many keepers, and I don't think I'd ever get a really great shot from there, but it was good practice anyway, since I hadn't shot anything moving in quite some time. And of course it was great fun to see these bikes !

Some pre-season testing here after lockdown has been partially lifted allowed me to test a remote camera set up with some local racers. Pleased with the results although I doubt whether I would risk the set-up during a proper race event. :-D

Good set especially for remote - my only niggle - way too high a shutter speed with zero motion blur (not being nasty)

.DAVID.

R3 box that goes click and some tubes with glass in them on the front.

I agree, would have preferred to get a little motion in the wheels, however my priority on the day was getting the bikes as sharp as possible for the riders and their sponsors. Next time I'll experiment a bit more and see what I can get. Its good fun trying if nothing else.

Mike, your last two shots look like they are both from Coronado. Here's a similar shot to your first one at the exit of the chicane (turn 5) on the back straight. We must have bumped into each other over the years, I only missed two of all the Speed Festivals at Coronado. :-)

That's a nice one with the flame-capture ! Yes, we were probably standing right next to one another at some point, small world ! I sure miss the Coronado races...among others.
