That is a wonderful first shot. A tripod might help but I agree with Brian that you should use your current setup. The 100L is an incredible lens.

Agreed. Continue using the setup, practice lighting and depth of field, then get equipment.

Thanks. I already have a main tripod and travel tripod and extension tubes I bought 11 years ago to take photos of the engagement ring I gave to my now-wife.

An easy to use Raynox DCR-250 clip on lens will get you to x2 life size for about $70 and is very good quality.
