NP. Eddie, or anyone for that matter, have you ever used 3DMark to benchmark your computer's performance? I recently ran the 3D Mark "Time Spy" benchmark test for gaming PC's and got a total score of 6769. On their website, your score can be compared with other setups like or similar to your own to see how they compare. The benchmarking test scores both CPU and GPU's too. Mine is: Graphics Score: 6652 and CPU Score: 7520

Here's my comparison. Tons of details can be found, this is just a quick comparison.

Just downloading now. I only found a download for 3Dmark but I assume timespy is part of it?

EDIT - Downloaded and signed up to Steam to get it but then realised I need to pay for 3DMark to use it (I thought it was a free bench)

There is a free version with just the one benchmark test that I did. The pay for version has multiple tests (I did get the paid version).

I assume you're using Windows. The other two versions are for Android and iOS

Thanks, going to test it out today.

It works great and looks so cool...now...how can I set it up to use my Rode NT mic...my Surface only has one UsB port.

In your example photos, I think the white balance is affected in one by the predominant grass colors making the image on the warm side and the other photo has a lot of asphalt in the scene leading to a cooler white balance. Because these examples are jpg, I can't use the raw filter's daylight white balance setting so I used the eyedropper tool to adjust w/b zoomed in on the whites of her eyes. On the cooler image, I manually brought the reds back up a little as it went too green I thought. here's my quick result side by side.

This is where setting your cameras w/b to daylight instead of auto should help or to put a passport checker in the scene and adjusting w/b in post with it. I would think it wouldn't be too practical using the passport checker shooting casual outdoor shots of the kids most of the time though.

Oh, I assume that's not the same sweatshirt in both images?

Well, I’m going to start over on my Kayak.

My Razorlite is just too tippy for my comfort. I knew it was tippy, but just didn’t fully comprehend HOW tippy it is. It’s just great for pure paddling, but whenever I stop to fiddle with a camera or anything else I feel like I’m going over. And I did go over today while trying to evade a little shrub. No big deal - nothing went in and my gear was safely secured in the dry bag and case.

My initial thought is to just order up the Sea Eagle Fasttrack, which is stable enough to support fishing while standing. This, I think, will resolve my unease with handling camera gear from within a kayak and save me from the expense of a little camera.

Regarding my Razorlite, I’m planning to keep it in the hopes I can get my wife out on the water - she could use the stable kayak and I could use the Razorlite.

Maybe another consideration would be the upgrade the surface to the SP7 or maybe wait for the 8. Any excuse to upgrade is always good haha.

Yeah, I noticed that not long after I posted. The ol' eyes ain't what they used to be I'm afraid.

I loaded potn on my phone and didn't realize it was at page 300 I'm like wow this is interesting conversation.... Yeah in the past lol

Used my a7riv for more video conferences today. At first they wanted to know how I turned on the blurry background mode on Google Hangouts. Amateurs.

Now my coworkers keep telling me I have a nice camera. Never mind the fact that I positioned myself optimally in front of a window to make best use of the lighting. I'm a little insulted.

This is something I've noted with most 'layman' comments on photography. I blame the internet. One of my mates a professional wedding photographer in colombo (been doing it for a very longtime) says the millennials are more interested in the kind of camera one has rather than his portfolio when booking for a shoot!

Knowing zero about the subject just wanted to ask - do you tether yourself to the kayak and also to your paddle in case you end up in the water?

Gene, finally got round to doing this. My CPU Score was 11721 but my graphics score was only 4461 which has brought the overall score down. I was expecting that though as I didnt build the PC for gaming and the GPU isnt a high end gaming one. The purpose of the PC build for me was to be a beast editor for photos and video, both of which dont require a high end GPU
