Looks like you've got some awesome weather moving away from you in the late afternoon. Did you have to watch where you were stepping there? :p

I really like your 'custom' license plate too, nice job.

Used my a7riv for more video conferences today. At first they wanted to know how I turned on the blurry background mode on Google Hangouts. Amateurs.

Now my coworkers keep telling me I have a nice camera. Never mind the fact that I positioned myself optimally in front of a window to make best use of the lighting. I'm a little insulted.

:-P

I am going all out for my big meeting next week...using the A7III, my light kit that I use for my YT videos and also my desktop mic...LOL...my boss notices, but I am sure no one else will.

Man we should do one!

I would be up for that...I have two friends in CA that we do that once a month now, just to keep in touch and keep tabs on each other.

I got out today with my dad and finally shot two waterfalls that have eluded me. My first attempt I could not cross the creek in my low sports car so I started to hike up the fire road but got too tired about 1/8 of a mile from the trailhead and I turned around...I didn't know how close I was...the second try it was too busy and no where to park. Today we got there right at sunrise and we made the walk in by ourselves. Had a good day.

Where we step? Yes! I'll post a pic up sometime showing why ;)
Weather was incredible while there...previous trip the entire area was inundated with smoke.

Knowing zero about the subject just wanted to ask - do you tether yourself to the kayak and also to your paddle in case you end up in the water?

Sorry about my slow reply...I’ve been so busy researching cool stuff non-stop.

My paddle definitely needs to be on a leash and I also strap in my kayak cart to the stern of the boat, but that’s it. Everything else floats and can just bob around in the water while I collect myself. That’s OK - even fun - for lakes here in the hot southern US. If I were in Scotland the fear of falling in one of your ice-cold lakes would be paralyzing for me! At a minimum I’d want a kayak that maximized stability - a kayak so stable one could stand up and fish in.

After spending a day pondering my options I’m going to go ahead and stick it out with my Razorlite kayak until at least after we get past this pandemic. I guess Covid has made everyone go mad with kayak-fever because almost nothing is in stock and manufacurers are struggling to meet the intense demand.

Anyway, sticking with my tippy kayak means I think I’m going to get that Sony ZV1 that Gene recomended. Should be a really fun and really easy point and shoot for both kayaking and biking. I had my a7R II with me on the lake yesterday, but I was to uneasy to even pull it out of the dry bag.

You know some paddlers have been found dead with a paddle leash around their necks...usually in water more confused than what I'd expect in your area..just making you aware. I know if I were ever to use a leash I'd have a paddling knife on my pfd.

Oh, this is my oldest daughter in the front yard after 2 hours of demo/instruction-

Excellent point. A knife is a must safety gear. How do you handle your paddle - just hang on to it?

Also, my feeling tippy in the Razorlite - is that going to go away eventually with usage/practice? I’m hoping so because I really do like it a lot.

Yes, time in the saddle.
I spin around in mine and let my feet dangle in the water up to my calves.
More stable then you think (or I would have thought when I purchased).

How are you inflating?
Did you get their pump? We love it and have a 12v outlet in the back of the camper that makes it convenient.

Yep I just hold the paddle.

Now the whitewater gurus have another argument with tethers. Maybe Cory will chime on this. But for me whitewater would be the
last place I'd use a teather.

On stability just make sure you're getting the 10psi they want. Get in some shallow water and start leaning hard. Go ahead and tip over. Learn how far
you can push it.

I hardly ever get a trip 'done'. Here's one from the Florida trip this past winter. I'm still have more Alaska images from this past trip and even my first time
there for white bears quite a while ago.

Anyone else back burner stuff forever and forever?

Nice photo!

But yeah, I 'used to' (kinda, since I'm refinishing everything in my gallery right now) backburner stuff for long periods of time, but I'm trying to catch up and leave nothing or next to nothing undone, and keep being caught up. Since I shoot a whole lot less right now than I normally would it's easier to do.

The hand pump is getting old real fast. :p I’ll order the electric one.

My pump has a PSI guage and I fill to exactly 10.

Their 12v pump is really nice and the case supplied is 10 star.

This is a little backflow inlet off the Chattahoochee River in Langdale, Alabama (my birthplace).

A lady fishing just behind me had just hauled in a nice one.
