Christ Church Cathedral, Darwin. The stone portal of the old Anglican Christ Church was all that survived the devastating Cyclone Tracy on Christmas morning, 1974. It was incorporated into the design of the new, modern cathedral on the site.

Fairhaven United Reformed Church (The White Church) is a well know local landmark in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, but difficult to get a good shot of due to surrounding tree and buildings.

Thank you tmwhitm. There is a lot of history in this cathedral. I have a lot more views up my sleeve. You will notice the towers at the front do not match. This was due to bombing in WW2.

Here is a short extract from Wiki:-
There are over 25 memorials to individual officers and soldiers of the Corps of Royal Engineers, including that of Lieut John Chard VC, the officer in charge of defending Rorke's Drift against the Zulu onslaught, and a number of memorials representing members of the corps that have given their lives in the discharge of their duty, including many stained glass windows presented by the corps.

Here is a Wiki Link for the Cathedral.

Bottom picture the Nave.

Here are a couple of interior shots you may be interested in.

So do I - nice ain’t it?
Tell you a little story. An old friend of mine could play every old tune you could think of. By ear only. He would always put his music book on the rest on the organ - it was only to remind him of the tune titles. One day the official organist asked if he would like to play that very organ. To his embarrassment he had to admit he could only play by ear.
The organist assured him the visitors would approve. He spent about half hour acquainting himself with the characteristics of the organ, playing anything from Ketelby’s Persian Market to Mother Kelly’s Doorstep and Land of Hope and Glory. In the end, after he thought he’d made a fool of himself, the organist asked him to play a little longer because the visitors were enjoying the music.

Thank you tmwhitm. Here are a couple more shots from the interior of the cathedral.

The first is a fine carving on the side of a quire seat.

The second is a memorial to the Royal Engineers Regiment who have a long connection with the Medway Towns. Sited above the entrance door to the Nave.

Here is a short extract from Wiki:- Repeated from previous posting.
There are over 25 memorials to individual officers and soldiers of the Corps of Royal Engineers, including that of Lieut John Chard VC, the officer in charge of defending Rorke's Drift against the Zulu onslaught, and a number of memorials representing members of the corps that have given their lives in the discharge of their duty, including many stained glass windows presented by the corps.

beautiful carvings Ray. I love church carvings. They are often very detailed and well done, like this.
The mosaic inscription is also very well done. What a futile lot of campaigns. Best not go there though Ray else we'll start one against US :p
