No HDR, only used the center exposure. In DXO Photolab 3: NR, straightened the perspective slightly for keystoning, cloned or cropped out the modern distractions, adjusted contrast, recovered highlights in the building and brightened the sky.

An old Kodachrome

I only used the 0Ev exposure for this one. Basically, all I did was a lot of cloning to remove whatever I could that looked too modern and then using the Alien Skin 4x Plugin, used an old Kodachrome preset with a film border and added the light leak using the same plugin. Finally, I added a "Fall Color" color LUT as the top layer to warm things up just a little.

This one isn't very imaginative I'm afraid.

1. Just SNS-HDR using -2 and 0EV exposures denoised and lens corrected with DxO

IMAGE: https://i.imgur.com/vy1brYs.jpg

2. Used 1 in Photoshop, removed trash bins, blue car etc using a mix of Content Aware Replace and Clone Stamp. Then used Crop Tool 16:9 to eliminate a lot of road. This left a white area above the original frame which I filled with sky and bushes.

Final touches were (a) reduce highlight brightness in ACR and (b) sharpen with Topaz Sharpen AI.

Set B&W Points - a lot of cloning, changed the door colour, fixed verticals & cropped

Lots of work in PS. Add/replace sky, recolor door, remove car and shadow in foreground.

A week has gone by and it is hand-over time. Here are some brief thoughts.

rrblint - good colours, clutter removed, wall texture retained. I like it
navydoc - oh Kodachrome and light leak, that brings back memories. Excellent tidy up but the white wall is burned out and has no texture
NigelD - good framing, excellent tidy up, white wall texture retained (just!). A really good job done.
MAC_daddy - power lines are a distraction, white wall burned out; but I do like the red door and sky replacement!

Nigel gets my vote today (by a whisker) so over to you. Give us a tough one :-)

Congrats Nigel.

I forgot to mention I also reconnected the shadow from the streetlamp to the wall on the ground...and I do see texture on the white wall on my monitor. :-)

Very sorry to hear that, Nigel. I have had 2 near crashes this year on my PC and laptop. Fortunately both were recoverable but I had to completely restore all programs on my laptop.

My second choice to host this week's challenge is Mark (rrblint).

Over to you, Mark

Sure I'll be glad to take over this week Martin. Let find something suitable. I'll get it up later this evening.

I hope you get your PC issues resolved soon. I know what a pain that can be.

Doc's Kodachrome simulation prompted me to look back at some of my Kodachromes. Here is one taken in the Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand in 1966!

I don't think that the scanning process got the colours quite right.

Very nice Martin. In 1966, I was serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. That's also the cruise I bought my Nikon F Photomic-T camera while in Japan. I shot mostly slide film or black and white at the time. Unfortunately, I lost most of my photos from that time many years ago.
