This is typical for the area where I live. Hills, vineyards, grassland, coastal live oak trees, bay laurel trees, and the PG&E power lines that frequently start fires around here.

There's a small airfield about 6 miles south on the other side of the mountain and weekends typically bring out a few of these guys flying overhead.

Some of the art that is on display as part of what
is called the Murals of Gratitude Exhibition. These
are boards that were used to cover up the windows
on some of the area businesses when they had to
close down because of the virus.

It looks enviably cool there. I'm in the midst of a yucky heat wave.

It was. The temps were in the low 70's. It felt great to be out there away from the beaches were presumably everyone else had flocked. We saw about 7 people in 4 hours of slow-paced walking.

Try and stay cool AND safe there. Been reading about the heatwave and the fires. Hope the fires are not anywhere close.

Thank you John!

I just returned home to some sad news.
Lisa Hopper aka Lavanut has pass away after a long fight with cancer.
She passed last night in her sleep.

She has been a long time supporter of WWPW and was a wonderful person.
I will miss her deeply...

Rest in Peace Lisa.

So sorry to hear the news. May she rest in peace. Do take care of yourself.

CC always welcome.

Well.. I do not want to take any photos locally as we have two fires on the other side of the mountains and all the smoke here in the valley.
That and the fact we've had 3 days of 120°+ heat on top of the smoke.
Not the best way to see the Coachella Valley. 3 fires in 2 months and the first fire is not even out yet.

Nothing from me this week.

Thanks again to John for putting up some great themes for WWPW

(((((Joayne))))) Wow. I can't even imagine that heat... and with the smoke from the fires. It must
be terrible for breathing. Stay safe.

Thanks. The fires aren't close enough to threaten me personally, but the heat is, and we've had smelly smoky air for days.

You can still take photos. Cameras don't spark like gender-reveal devices. :-) I can understand wanting to stay indoors, though, if indoors has AC. I just have fans, one of them embedded in a portable evaporative cooler (you put water in it).

I was in short sleeves at 13,000 feet on Sunday. Today (Tuesday), this area is getting a couple feet of snow. Comanche Peak in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rockies.

One more ... this trail is called the "Phantom Terrace" and is one of the very coolest hikes ever. If you look on the ridge you can see folks up there, and you can see the trail cut into the face of the mountain. Wild stuff!
