An expensive lens and an adapter that I traded with mpb was supposed to be delivered via next day air today 09/15/20.

The fun started with a call from a representative from mpb around noon or 12:00pm. He said he was calling due to the fact the lens they were holding for me was inadvertently sold to someone else while they were in the process of inspecting my gear. Never mind that when the trade was initiated the lens listed on their website was taken down for the very purpose of being held until my items being traded were evaluated and the transaction could be completed.

The difference I believe between the lens I was trading for and the gear I traded in was $19 in which I was paying to mpb.

During the call the $869 "well used" Canon 85 1.2 ll was described as being already sold and I was given 2 options, the first being that mpb could issue me a check for my gear while the second was to purchase another, more expensive 85 1.2 ll starting at $1200. Only the mention of getting a check stopped me from being more than mildly perturbed. At that point the thought of waiting possibly another two weeks to get a check before buying an 85 1.2ll from somewhere else wasn't sitting to well with me so I told the mpb rep that if they could guarantee delivery by tomorrow, Wednesday that I would purchase and pay the difference on the other lens. After the rep insisted several times that it would only cost $39 for next day air to my address I told him I would not place the order until he checked one more time. I'll mention that while I was on the phone with him I looked up the shipping info for next day air up on the MPB website and it said it was $69. So after the rep apologised for the error in billing that already had taken place he said he would upgrade the shipping to from 2 day business to next day air for the inconvenience it caused.

Since I own a Sony I purchased the Metabones V to use the 85 1.2ll with and it was still marked for delivery by Fedex by 8:00pm tonight, 09/15/20. Since Fedex typically delivers to my address in the latter afternoon hours I didn't think there would be any other issues until 5:58pm when I get a call from a Fedex representative. This person states the driver is in my very small town and cannot find my address. After replying that my address hasn't changed in 20 years and that it's the first time any Fedex or UPS couldn't find my address I gave him very simple additional directions to my address to which the rep replied that the driver was only a few blocks up the street and would be delivering the package in a few minutes.

So after waiting about fifteen more minutes I looked up the updated delivery status that now said "incorrect address" and "returned to facility". The time of the updated delivery status showed 6:00pm. SMH on that one is all I can do.

Not a major gripe about either and I will continue to do business with both but all that confusion on one day is something I hope doesn't happen tomorrow, lol.

UPDATE:

While browsing MPB.com's website tonight I see the lens that I initially traded my gear for and it's now being listed for about $100 more than a couple of weeks ago before the listing was removed while the trade was in process. I'm positive it is the same lens because of the markings on the pics I took note of.

Now I feel that I was taken advantage of in a pretty basic bait and switch scheme by this company. Definitely won't be doing business with this company again.

Besides a call to their business first thing in the morning for an explanation I'll post the new link to the lens they have on their site.

That whole experience sounds awful. I haven't personally purchased anything from MPB, but I think I'll avoid them in the future. I have had consistently great experiences from KEH and highly recommend them if you're looking for an alternative to MPB.

How did this work out with them?
They have some items I'm interested in and this is a good indicator of their CS in events that have bumps to work through.

I only experienced this with USPS when they screwed up the delivery and put in the records that they did not have access to my house. We, me and Amazon, got them on the phone and they confessed they screwed up. I got an extra month of Prime out of the mess.

How did they respond about the bait and switch claim?

I put an order through and it proceeded smoothly through Fed EX and arrived 4 business days later.
