I spotted this Kookaburra flying to a disused Termite mount high up in a tree, take a few pecks and then fly back to its perch on a nearby branch.

It looked like the bird was trying to excavate a hole to make a nest?

This is a 2 frame composite, taken with the EOS R6 (not yet in POTN database).

Oh yeah, I really like this one, Dennis! I wonder how the R6 will compare with the R5? I'm looking forward to hearing from the different shooters here.

Thanks, Mike, I like rear view shots of hummers when the tail wings get spread out.

Thanks Mike, I have my R6 set up as follows:

• AF Operation is set to AI SERVO
  
• AF Method is set to Spot AF or 1-Point AF
  
• Subject to Detect is set to Animal
  
• Eye Detection is Enabled
  

• AF ON Button: set to "AF Method Selection"
  
• AE Lock Button: set to "Eye Detection AF"
  
• Joystick (Multi-controller) is set to Direct AF Point Selection.
  

• When I find a bird, I place the Centre AF Spot on the eye, regardless of where the bird appears in the frame, and focus.
  
• I can use the Joystick (Multi-controller) to move the AF Point if required.
  
• I then press the AE Lock Button and this invokes "Eye Detection AF", which starts at the location of the previously placed AF Point.
  
• I can then gently move the camera to compose the bird in the frame, and the position of the bird in the frame changes, the "Eye Detection AF" just tracks across the View Finder.
  
• This allows me to forget about placing the AF Point on the eye and manually trying to keep it on the eye.
  
• I can just compose the bird in the VF whilst glancing to check that the "Eye Detection AF" is still locked on the eye.

Sandhill Cranes

Took the Canon EOS R6 and RF 70-200 F2.8L to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane today, and managed to get a seat for the Free Flight Raptor Show, in the COVID-19 restricted viewing gallery.

The position was under the shade cloth canopy and towards the back of the show, so not an ideal shooting location. However, the EOS R6 performed admirably and I came away with some keepers.

These are 3 consecutive in-flight frames blended together in PS CC.

PS - to complete the EXIF data I had to select EOS R and EF70-200 from the POTN database, but the actual gear was EOS R6 and RF 70-200mm.

I found it surprisingly challenging to keep up to the movements of the Common terns.

Thanks, Eric, the flowers are still hanging in there but I'm afraid the last of my resident yard hummers took off....

Nice BIF shot with good details and focus.

The colour purple
