not a lot of options these days for me within my limited walking distance from the house, but it so happens sparrows are a favourite of mine.

Driving home from work spotted this duck outside close to my house. I’ve no idea what breed or how it got here. Suspect someone’s pet loose in the compound.

I particularly love the color and lighting in that second shot. It's nice they're cooperating with your convalescence so nicely :D

Looks like a young, Muscovy Duck. They're a popular, domestic breed and frequent escapees

Great Spotted Woodpecker. The most common of the pied WPs, but still nice to see.

That's an amazing-looking woodpecker. It looks like a weird combo of our Hairy Woodpeckers and Flickers

Thank you for pointing that out, Eric. Man, I sure was off on that shot. I surely do appreciate it when people correct me when I'm wrong. So many of of the smaller birds are a struggle for me.

There's a reason the LBB conversational designation ("Little Brown Bird") exists :D They get tricky with a quickness...

I'm with the others; I do NOT know how you so regularly find and capture the action, but you do it amazingly well.

Picidae are an amazing family of birds aren't they. So many little variations.
They're high up my wish list for a birding trip to your side of the pond, particularly the Northern Flicker.

Southern California/Arizona would be a strong region for you to target your visit to, as you should be able to catch Red and Yellow-shafted varieties of Northern and also possibly net you Gilded and Gila Flickers, as well. Might have to come farther North for the Red-shafted, but they're fairly well spread out these days, I believe.

Very attractive image, Mike.

Thanks, SYS. I kept looking at that image, and finally thought that it sorta looks like a Christmas ornament hanging from a tiny tree.:-D
