I don't know how families can afford today's prices at Disney properties. Last time for us was 2012 with Epcot and Disneyworld while we were already in Florida for a Space Shuttle launch. Epcot was having a "foodie" event, but even that was rather disappointing.

Yes, the Napa Sonoma wine country is burning again. Ash is falling like snow. We evacuated the dogs to my sons house Sunday night. My neighbor and I evacuated our horses yesterday. We're technically not in a mandatory evacuation zone, but it is mandatory 9/10ths of a mile up the road. One front of the fire is 3 miles away, but the winds now are pushing it away from us. The cars are packed with all the critical stuff and we can leave on 10 minutes notice.

Fun fall times in the wine country...fires, falling ash, and evacuations.

Stay safe. This yr has been bad, can't wait for it to get over and things get back to normal.

Lately I've been feeling like I shouldn't be posting my images here. Just feels like I'm being insensitive with everything going on in people's personal lives and the negativity around the world.

no - keep posting
Might brighten some peoples lives up and give them momentum moving forward.
That said, I'm on an island so removed from the issues that plague many so perhaps need to remember that (for me) too.

Not insensitive at all. Photography, be it my own or someone else's is always therapeutic. It highlights the beauty in the world when there is a lot of ugly.

The first year I lived in San Diego, I was up on my roof with a garden house, because of wildfires threatening. Years later when I visited that neighbor hood, all the houses were new, as the one's there previously were all gone to fire... Wishing all the victim's in Cali a safe return to there home's due to the wildfires... A big shout out to all the fire fighters that battle those wildfires as well.

Hope you get your F16 ride, that would be awesome, and not many get the chance.

Thanks for the earlier message Mike. :-) Happily the US Air Force visited Fairford a few years ago to display the F-22 and the F-35. Both were jaw droppingly awesome! I still love the sound of the Typhoon the most but the power of these newer jets is insane.

The Air Tattoo (Fairford) did a virtual show this year. Only then did I learn the so say fast fly pasts they do is actually less then half their potential top speed!

I went Fairford some years ago, standing next to the runway very impressive, the RAF did not have a Typhoon available, so BAe flew their demo plane which has the full bomb load (dummies), I think it was the last year the Vulcan few as well.

Off topic - I understand that weather is changing and has made quite an impact on these fires but more and more people are also moving into places which are fire prone. Some have no choice due to the cost. But I am surprised by the ones who can afford. Near Mount Diablo is town of Danville, you can find 3-4, 5 million dollar homes. Drive there and you are, man when the fire starts, it is all going to go very quick. No clearings, all brush, over grown trees everywhere you see. If you can afford those fancy houses, you can have all that work done on your own dime. Govt also need to think longer term about fire suppression. To me fire fighting has become a big business. People need to spend more to make sure these fire don't happen to begin with.

Ok, here is one that I finished editing last night. An explosion of fall color. Not entirely happy with the composition but hope y'all enjoy the color.

^^ Beautiful fall color. Would love to see in larger size. Right now to me, it has that softness again like you shot of the frozen lake. I am no expert in landscapes but maybe that what happens with wider lenses and on the corners of the lens. My limited experience is with Fuji GF 23mm (18mm FF) where it goes super sharp across the frame. Again this could be due to compression etc, I don't know. I am just commenting as my honest take on it. Hope no bad feelings.

No worries Bobby. Here is a high resolution version on Flickr. I shot this handheld and it was a bit windy. Also applied an orton effect to the highlights. It could be all three that are contributing to the "softness" you are seeing.
