That is what I am counting on. This will be my first very high MP camera. Have you used the 1.6 crop yet?

Yes , but you can also crop in post and get the same results.
Advantage of the full sensor is that your subject is much easier to follow through the EVF.

I was actually surprised to find that out. Ordered R5 and grip first, then ordered the R6. Went to see which grip the R6 used and was happily surprised to se they use the same.

Yes.

Unfortunately, UPS screwed up the delivery of my EF-R adapter and rescheduled delivery from Friday the 2nd to Monday the 12th. I just received the update today. So, no go with the R5 this week.

Yes allways backbutton focus.
I have spot af set to the back button focus, and animal eye detection under the star button, so i can rapidly change these two.

Thank you for your responses. I read a review that said the control ring adapter is "practically useless" for heavy lenses. The reviewer mentioned Sigma 60-600 when making that statement. I don't know anything about that particular lens, but I gather that I'd experience the same with my Sigma 150-600C? I'm going to be using R5 (once I get it) for bird photography primarily with that lens.

I'm one week in with my R5 and also have the Sigma 150-600C. It worked great with the R5 and I got some images that would have been challenging on my 80D. I suspect the control ring would be useless unless you're on a tripod - it would be a challenge to support the lens while also adjusting that ring.

Thanks, Mike, your input is very helpful. Since I use a monopod mostly for bird photography with the 150-600 and exposure compensate quite frequently, I think the control ring would be the way to go.

One specific question for you:

With my current set up, Canon 5D IV and Sigma 150-600C, I don't know how many times I've lost great opportunities due to AF refocusing from one subject to another being sluggish in AI Servo mode. How do you find the combo of R5 and Sigma 150-600C in such AF performance? How snappy is the performance?

That has been my experience using the Sigma 150-600mm on the 80D in regards to refocusing. The tracking and speed was a world of difference in my early use in my opinion. I have bird in flight images that I'm sure I would have missed.
