The birds were quite a distance away but the entire landing sequence was in focus. Also, this is a huge crop. And still, I had to really be careful not to sharpen much in post. I find it very handholdable. Much more comfortable than my 1D4 with 400/5.6L, even without a TC. And to have a bare 800mm is very nice indeed.
