Your sketches are beautiful. I went to your Youtube link but unfortunately did not find any video of you making sketches.

I love watching artists draw - something really captivating about it.. please post some videos of yourself making the drawings.

Thank you

:D Thank you very much. I haven't bothered setting up a video because I don't have a dedicated drawing space. I draw when I find the time (whether it's at work or at home). This was just a pastime as one of my projects hit some major, unanticipated delays.

Perhaps, someday, if I ever get my ducks lined up in a row and have more time to spend on drawing, I'll setup something that can capture the process.

Here's my 23rd sketch, which I just finished earlier today:

Wow, this is outstanding!

You say it's your 23rd sketch. How many years have you been doing this type of art?

Btw, if I come in for a root canal, do I get a free portrait sketch? ;-)a

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

lol... the sketch would be double price. You're making me work even harder.

"How many years...?"

See that's not a simple question for me to answer. Here's the Cliff Notes version:

I discovered that I could kind of draw portraits in 1999. I made about 25 or so portraits, and then I stopped.

Fast forward to August 2020 (2.5 months ago), I decided to dust off the pencils.

So thus far, I've completed 23 sketches in 2020.

So you can either say I've been doing this for ~1-1.5 years. Or you can say I've been drawing portraits for the past 21 years.

Three woodland birds photographed on the forest floor on a sunny Autumn day: A Chaffinch (f), a Bluetit and a Coaltit. The first shot is a 66% crop, the other two are 100%. All with 1Dx III + 500mm f4 L IS II:

Slow day at work so chance to upload some more...

This time they are from the HERO Summer Trial, based in Telford but using lots of minor roads around Ludlow and the Welsh border area. Again we had good weather which makes life a lot easier.

it is a shame we are about at the end of the 2020 season, but I suppose we should be thankful for any event taking place at the moment.

Time for something a lot slower than the usual motorsport imagery, a few weeks ago I spent a very pleasant day at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, UK. A 150 acre site with around 400 memorials to all those that served and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Thankfully on our visit it was sun all day.

Hopefully if all goes to plan, early December will see a floodlit and laser lit venue which will be an amazing sight as some of the memorials are just asking to be lit individually with dark background.

The other thing I wish to do is take a tripod which would allow a bit of focus stacking, but for a first visit with the MKIII and 24-70 2.8 II I was very satisfied with the results. What a difference it makes having time to compose a shot, take several at different settings etc, against the usual 100mph rush of the race track.
