Nice work!! Very impressive!
I've eyed those crazy dedicated telescopes setup for star photography...someday
I was bored last night, so I hauled out the 100-400 II with the 1.4x Extender III, added a Sigma MC-11 with the intent of shooting Mars in juxtaposition to the Sun. That was a bust. But my android SkyMap app pointed me over to Jupiter to the South. This is a blend of two seriously cropped shots. The EXIF is for the moons image. Jupiter was very bright and shot at 1/50th, f/8, and ISO 160. I'm not an astro guy, but I was pretty happy with this final image and also how well the EF 100-400 II performed.

Of course now I am lusting for a 600mm lens and a 2x extender.
