I looked at each photo side by side, two different tabs within Google Chrome.

The center background building is the same in each photo. The buildings on each side are different. I suspect they are not taken on the same side of the center background building. A totally different street.

Charles you piqued my curiosity. I Google Earthed the basilica and there's really only one side these photos could have been taken from. After much toing and froing I concluded that fotoi's shot is taken from one street further back than RDWP's. RDWP's was taken from near Via San Pio X and fotoi's from Lungotevere Castello, near Piazza Pia.


Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

I did the same - see screen capture below. Thinking the different lens perspectives (70 mm vs. 43 mm) helped with the mystery; also explains why no barrier across Via della Conciliazione in my pic. Sharp eyes and good recon work all round! :lol:
