If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

A couple from yesterday's hike. AF struggled with the Sapsucker. She was way up in a big pine tree, so very small in the frame. Deep shadows, bright sky behind and complex patterns all over. But still got a decent addition to my collection.

I had to manually adjust the EXIF shown here. But yes, 2x III + 2x II were used. :)

Lovely shot! How are you liking that RF 70-200 with the R5? It's on my short list, may be my next purchase.

A couple of spiders in the back garden with the EOS R5 and Canon 180mm F3.5L Macro with Canon EF x1.4 Extender Mk III.

Cheers

Did you use focus bracketing on these ones Dennis?
Nice looking pictures.

Thank you. I really like the size and weight of it. I have the EF 70-200 f2.8 III also. Quality wise I do not see a difference using the 2 of them. No need for the adapter makes the lens even shorter vs the EF version. I like the smaller size but I never been a fan of the extending barrel design. I prefer the internal design. I even wish the RF 100-500 was internal. It does have a lock on it which is nice. I feel it is a good purchase and you will be happy with it. I bought one brand new for $2400. If you use extenders with it then the RF will not work with them like the EF version.

No, both the EOS R5 and EOS R6 write in the User Manual that flash photography is not possible in FB and I was using the MT26 Speedlite.

I tried to place the body of the spiders parallel to the plane of the sensor to get as much in focus as was possible. Both spiders were very cooperative.:-)

I have used the Helicon FB Tube (external link) for Focus Bracketing on the EOS R (not R5 or R6 yet) and can confirm that you can use Flash, as the FB is performed by the Helicon FB Tube and not the camera. The EOS R does not have built in FB.

Cheers

Dennis
