Shot a friend of mine yesterday at a event he took part of, he is a cosplayer. Seen here as Boba Fett from The Mandalorian.
Btw, eye focus didn't work very well this time. :)

Should change the name of this thread to animal planet.

Well, the people who get most excited about cutting-edge AF tend to be wildlife photographers, where AF has historically been the greatest challenge.

Leaves, branches, tall grasses, bushes, wildflower meadows, etc that are not in the same plane of focus as the subject's eye have always created big challenges to AF. Nature's 3D structures are sadistic towards photographers whose magnification needs require shallow DOF to get low noise and low diffraction. Proximity and large entrance pupils can give the best potential results, but also make desired focus more difficult.

Nice shots. I thought that was a breeding display, but it is obviously done outside of breeding season.

Thanks, I believe this is mock play. This group of males hangs out together and have been together for weeks now. They are getting ready for what is to come.

Nice shots

BTW... What your wild turkeys taste like?....Never eaten a wild one and very curious as I love turkey meat. We really only have commercially bred turkeys here which are great tasting but expensive and really only appear in stores leading up to Christmas. There is however a wild Bush Turkey here but they really arent turkeys and we cant hunt and eat them anyway as they are protected. However you guys have true wild turkeys in US so I thought I would ask although I suspect like all wild meat it would be very "gamey" and probably tough?

Cheers

Thanks, I never had wild turkey so I could not tell you. I believe you're most likely correct about being gamey.

OK. Time for a tangent. We have wild turkeys around here and a few guys hunt them in a very limited season on my farm. They are not what I would typically call "gamey" at all. Nothing like you would think of deer or bear. I would say that the breast tastes a little more like dark meat domestic turkey, but it's actually very moist and to be honest, I prefer it to store-bought raised turkey. There. You have another opinion. :)
