We might have steam trains in the UK but we can't go out into the desert and get light like that, great shots, deep envy lol. ;-)a

Thank you. I had plans to try shooting something else, but the plan got changed due to a new fence being put up preventing access. I was quite pleased that the original idea didn’t work out and was presented with these opportunities.

Clouds of clag from the exhaust as the throttle is opened! Class 37215 Diesel Electric Locomotive built in 1963 and preserved at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway.

LNER Class A4 4488 (now 60009) "Union of South Africa" built 1937.

There's an interesting YouTube video showing how these things were built without the use of hard hats or hi-vis jackets.........

Very interesting video! As mentioned no safety glasses, no safety anything. When moving a large plate via a hoist to another location within the building, they needed something to use as a counter balance. They used several men to sit on the plate to do that job early in the video!!

The loco in that video No 6207 "Princess Arthur of Connaught" was scrapped in 1961. There are two examples of the class surviving, only one still running I believe. Here are a couple of photos of No 6201 "Princess Elizabeth" (built 1931) at speed on the main line.

Four second exposure. I just happened to be first in line at the crossing on the way home last night. Rested the camera on the steering wheel to avoid to much camera shake.
