what a cool spot with the water and all those arched bridges, that could be fun to work with for a while.

Nice. And nice area to as Travis said.

My outing this morning was a good 3-4 hours in literally a few hundred yards worth of woodland.

I am hating Lightroom. Catalogs are all messed up since the update, I have tried 2x to import today and it screws up the catalog even more.

Was all happy because I got some cool bird shots today and now I am just a Grump

sigh

I understand for this little camera but in general, what does EECS buys that everyone raves so much. Mirror vibrations, I don't see them on my GFX50s. It is not the pixel density of A7rIV but still. I wanted to play with my co-workers GFX100 but covid changed those plans. When I got A7rIV and was shooting in the studio, EECS was the first thing to turn off. Mechanical shutter only. I do same with any camera. Maybe it is due to being used to the shutter of old Canon 1dmk2.:)

EFCS has been shown to negatively affect bokeh at shutter speeds faster than about 1/1000 so I keep it switched off all the time. I don’t mind the increased shutter noise from the first curtain mechanical shutter

OK 3rd try restarting a new catalog I finally got my photos to load and operate right. LR is much slower than before the update so I still have to figure out why.

Anyway made it through half the pics from the day. I went out to the Gilbert AZ water reserve (crap treatment plant) It is one of the best at creating a park around s**t processing and always has great birding for being in the middle of a Greater Phoenix 5.5 million population. I had heard reports of a wayward stranger that is VERY rare for AZ. It appears a Juvenile Spoonbill showed up about 3 weeks ago and hasn't left. Theory is that the Storms in the gulf pushed him this way. In anycase I thought I would try and find him. Got up late of course grabbed the R4 not the A9 so that was not great on teh 200-600, and got there about 30 min after sunrise and there he was on top of the main sitting post. Got some shots looked down at the camera and looked up again and there was a Heron there. Apparently the Heron absolutely HATES this bird and chases it all over the ponds. It is only the size of a snowy egret but that big blue heron is a bully. After loosing site of him I went to another pond that is usually productive and found some guys hanging out. They told me that for 3 weeks he is quite regular and that by 9:30 or 10:00 he would end up at this pond. So I sat down and shot with these guys. Mostly Canon guys one had the latest Canon mirrorless and a long lens like 100-500 or something....... OMG I am so happy about sony.... so he has the 1.4x extender on and like Sony it requires that long flange going into the lens but unlike Sony ... Canon limits the throw of the lens so with the extender on the low end is locked at 300 or 420!!!!!!!! So when the birds came close he basically had no way of shooting below that!

The day was busy though with tons of siting of species including a Crested Caracara that I missed and is rare for phoenix, a male Harrier bad shot below, Osprey, night heron, blue heron, green heron, great egret, snow egrets and a bunch of little birds I know nothing of.

Made it though half the photos last night so here are a few.

Is anyone using the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DN OS lens for Sony? I only see positive reviews, but am interested in any of you ladies/gentlemen are using it, and what your impressions are?
Looking to do some Tele-lens landscapes and maybe some birds/animals.

Thanks in advance

This is the Sampaio pool cue made in Lisbon, Portugal my wife bought me for Christmas around 1970. The brass is a bit corroded where the varnish has worn off, there are a couple of chips in the paint, and the tip was replaced once years ago. It probably isn't worth much today but it does have a lot of sentimental value to me.
